Life’s challenges can feel overwhelming—but meaningful change can begin today. At Gilman Psychological Services (GPS), we offer a short-term, skills-focused approach that helps teens and adults better understand their stress and learn practical tools that truly help. Instead of open-ended talk therapy, we focus on understanding what’s driving distress and practicing skills that can be used right away.

You will learn, practice, and apply proven strategies—step by step—to build confidence, strengthen coping skills, and create lasting improvements that support your long-term well-being.

We recognize that anxiety, depressive symptoms, emotional dysregulation, adjustment difficulties, and trauma-related stress can impact mood, behavior, and overall functioning.
Our program focuses on identifying and modifying maladaptive thought patterns, strengthening emotional regulation, and developing effective coping and behavioral skills. Care is delivered in a structured, collaborative, and supportive manner, with the goal of improving symptom management, daily functioning, and long-term emotional well-being.

Our individual therapy sessions are designed to help clients navigate a wide range of challenges, from anxiety and depression to trauma and relationship issues. We utilize evidence-based treatments to help clients build resiliency, develop healthy coping skills, and achieve their goals.

We provide parent management training to help caregivers develop effective, evidence-based strategies for supporting their child’s emotional and behavioral needs. Parents learn practical skills for setting clear expectations, responding consistently, and reinforcing positive behaviors, while also strengthening communication and emotional regulation at home. Our collaborative approach empowers parents to take an active role in their child’s progress and create lasting, positive change within the family system.

We provide couples therapy for traumatic stress using an evidence-based, cognitive-behavioral approach. Treatment helps partners understand how trauma-related thoughts, emotions, and behaviors affect communication, emotional safety, and relationship patterns. Couples learn practical skills to improve emotional regulation, communication, and problem-solving, allowing them to respond to stress more effectively and strengthen their relationship over time
